GAF Delhi and Mumbai Team win 4 medals in the 71st Glenmark Senior National Aquatic Championships-2017, Bhopal

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Competing with the best swimmers in the country, GAF Delhi and Mumbai swimmers have once again proved their mettle and have won 4 medals in the 71st Glenmark Senior National Aquatic Championships-2017, Bhopal.

Soubrity Mondal bagged a Gold medal in 200m Backstroke, while Annie Jain, Jyotsna Pansare, and Kushagra Rawat have won bronze medals in the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 400m Freestyle respectively. Senior National is an event wherein all the renowned swimmers of the country take part. Winning medals in a tough competition like this is a matter of pride for the entire Academy and the Glenmark Aquatic Foundation team.

The performances of all the swimmers were above than expected, which has overwhelmed the GAF coaches. The Technical Director of GAF, Mr. Peter Gartrell has hoped of good performances by Indian swimmers in the Olympics by 2020. Now, when the graph is moving vertically, the vision of Glenmark Aquatic Foundation is about to come true very soon. Congratulations to all the swimmers.

HIGHLIGHTS- Three-Day Workshop at Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex

To strengthen the Indo-Japanese bond, The Sports Authority of India welcomed the professors of the University of Tsukuba, Japan. A three-day workshop was piloted at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee swimming pool complex, New Delhi from 11th September 2017 to 13th September 2017.

The main agenda of the workshop was to create awareness about the modern coaching techniques in swimming. University of Tsukuba’s swimming and water polo Coaches, Dr. Y Sengoku and Dr. H Takagi delivered lectures on. High-Performance Sports, Sports science, Biomechanics of swimming along with the current research in the area of High-Performance Sports.

The foreign delegates also watched the SAI Glenmark TIDM Academy training session and were impressed by the modern coaching techniques used in the Academy by the Coaches. The ideas presented by GAF Coach, Mr. Partha Pratim Majumder were highly appreciated by the guests and they seemed convinced by the vision of Glenmark Aquatic Foundation and applauded the team for their valuable support to the system to promote swimming in India.

The  workshop was attended by the coaches and the supporting staff and it was concluded on a good note. Both SAI and University of Tsukuba’s officials are looking forward to an extended collaboration to produce swimming champions in both the countries.

Team SGTIDM and Team GAF win 13 medals at the 9th Asian Age Group Championships at Uzbekistan

Team SGTIDM and GAF won a total of 13 medals (individual and relay) at the 9th Asian Age Group Championships at Uzbekistan recently. 9 Swimmers from GAF participated in the Event.

The Swimmers from the SAI Glenmark TIDM program in Delhi had a wonderful outing as well. Swadesh Mondal won 3 individual bronze medals in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley while he won a silver in the 4*100 m Medley relay. Kushagra Rawat won an individual bronze in the 200m Freestyle and 400 Freestyle and won a bronze in the 4*100 m Freestyle and the 4*200 m Freestyle. Veer Khattar won a gold in the 4*100 Freestyle relay.

From the GAF Mumbai team Vedant Bapna won an individual bronze in the 200m backstroke and a silver in the 4*100 Individual Medley. Xavier Dsouza won two silvers one in the 4*200 Freestyle and the other in the 4*100 Medley and a bronze in the 4*100 Medley. Aaron partnered Xavier in the 4*200 Freestyle winning silver.
